Overview

The BISS International Diploma in Corporate Governance has been developed for professionals responsible for governance, organisational oversight, and corporate accountability within public, private, and non-profit organisations.

The programme provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of internationally recognised governance principles and equips them with the practical competence required to establish effective governance frameworks, strengthen organisational transparency, support ethical leadership, and enhance board effectiveness.

Programme Modules

Module 1 – Introduction to Corporate Governance

Introduces the fundamental concepts of corporate governance, governance structures, governance principles, and the strategic role of governance in achieving organisational sustainability.

Module 2 – Governance Frameworks and International Best Practice

Explores internationally recognised governance frameworks, governance codes, organisational governance models, and established principles supporting effective governance.

Module 3 – Board Governance and Leadership Responsibilities

Examines the structure, roles, responsibilities, and accountability of governing bodies, including board committees, executive leadership, strategic oversight, and governance decision-making.

Module 4 – Organisational Accountability, Ethics and Corporate Integrity

Focuses on ethical leadership, organisational integrity, accountability mechanisms, conflict of interest management, corporate values, and governance culture.

Module 5 – Internal Control and Governance Assurance

Develops an understanding of governance assurance systems, internal control frameworks, governance monitoring, organisational resilience, and effective oversight practices.

Module 6 – Governance Risk Oversight

Examines the governance responsibilities associated with organisational risk oversight, including board responsibilities, governance reporting, strategic risk awareness, and governance resilience.

Module 7 – Stakeholder Engagement, Transparency and Disclosure

Explores stakeholder relationships, governance communication, organisational transparency, disclosure practices, public accountability, and stakeholder confidence.

Module 8 – Governance Performance and Continuous Improvement

Introduces governance performance evaluation, governance maturity, board effectiveness reviews, continuous improvement methodologies, and governance excellence.

Module 9 – Corporate Governance Improvement Project

Provides learners with the opportunity to apply programme knowledge through the development of a practical Corporate Governance Framework or an Organisational Governance Improvement Plan.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent professional qualification; or

  • Possess suitable professional experience within management, governance, compliance, administration, or related disciplines.

  • Applicants should also:

  • Be at least 19 years of age.

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of organisational management principles.

  • Previous experience within public, private, or non-profit organisations is recommended but not mandatory.
